Faster recovery, better performance

Techniques for Relaxation, Performance, and Injury Prevention

The „Massage for Athletes“ online course introduces techniques that can support recovery and help you maintain your performance level.

You will learn massage methods that help reduce muscle tension, support recovery, and contribute to overall physical comfort. Learn how to care for your body and support your performance.

Do your muscles or joints feel strained?

Do you notice discomfort in your muscles or joints after training? This can be a sign that your body needs recovery.

In this online course, you will learn massage techniques that help relax muscles and joints. These methods can support recovery and help you return to your activities feeling more comfortable.

Improved flexibility and range of motion

Sports massage can help release fascia and connective tissue. By working with these structures, it may support tissue elasticity and overall mobility.

Improved circulation in the treated area can support hydration of tissues, allowing muscles and joints to move more freely.

Improved blood flow and oxygenation of muscle tissue

Massage techniques can stimulate circulation in the treated area. This supports the delivery of oxygen and nutrients to muscles, which are important for their function and recovery.

At the same time, it can support the natural removal of metabolic waste products and contribute to reduced muscle fatigue.

Injury Prevention

The course includes techniques focused on supporting the body during physical activity. By helping release muscle tension and supporting flexibility, these methods may contribute to reducing the risk of overuse.

Proper care of muscles, joints, and tendons is an important part of long-term physical activity.

Mental Well-being

Physical activity can also place demands on the mind. The massage techniques included in this course can support relaxation and help reduce feelings of stress and tension. A relaxed state can contribute to better focus and overall readiness for both training and everyday activities.

What I Would Have Given to Have Known This Sooner

As a former national team member in road cycling and cyclocross, I trained intensively and experienced physical strain firsthand. At that time, I did not have access to the knowledge and techniques I use today. My sports career ended early due to long-term knee issues.

Looking back, I understand how important proper recovery and care can be. That is why I created this course—to share practical techniques that can support your training and overall well-being.

Jan Šel, former masseur for the Czech national cycling team

As a former head masseur for the Czech national cycling team, I worked with top athletes and continue to provide massage therapy to athletes today. I have personal experience with intensive training, both as a former athlete and as a masseur supporting recovery.

For more than 20 years, I have focused on working with athletes, and I understand how important recovery is. I have included these experiences and techniques in this course to help you better care for your body.

Massage promotes the return of deoxygenated blood from peripheral areas back to the heart. This accelerates blood circulation and regeneration of the body. That is why almost all massage techniques are performed in the direction of the heart.

Massage causes blood flow to the skin and reddening, which is the result of a biochemical effect. The body activates substances such as acetylcholine and histamine, which dilate the surface capillaries.

These fill with oxygenated blood, leading to reddening of the skin and accelerating metabolism in the massaged areas.

The reflexive effect of massage lies in the fact that by touching and applying pressure to nerve endings in the skin, we influence distant organs and tissues. Through nerve pathways, massage stimulates self-healing processes in the body, which can, for example, lead to improved function of internal organs when massaging the feet.

This principle utilizes the interconnectedness of the entire organism through the nervous system.

Lymph is a clear fluid that removes waste from cells and blood, making it an important cleansing system for the body.

Proper lymph flow is key to cleansing. If it does not function properly, toxins and harmful substances accumulate, overloading the body and weakening the immune system. Massage promotes lymphatic circulation and regeneration.

When we hurt ourselves, we instinctively rub the painful area. Similarly, rubbing our temples relieves headaches. This shows that massage techniques and pressure can effectively relieve pain.

Massage also supports the body’s self-healing processes, leading to cleansing and harmonization.

Touch supports feelings of closeness, trust, and body awareness.

It contributes to relaxation, overall well-being, and a deeper connection between body and mind. This is a natural ability that anyone can gradually develop.
